Upgrade Meridian 380w to 825w

Hi all,

Seen some genuine speakers for sale on ebay and it got me wondering. Is it possible to retro upgrade to meridian system from 380w to 825w?

From the meridian website, all i'm missing is the 3 midrange coaxials/tweeters. 1 in the dash and 2 at the rear. I'm guessing the dealer would have to reconfigure the software to use and enable some of the extra meridian features.

Any ideas?

The electronics is completely different so you would need to replace that and then there's the issue of wiring to the speakers. The option costs something like £1000 and you can be certain the retrofit cost will be much higher.

I don't know how many people have the upgrade but I can't think of anyone saying they cannot live without it. It's the same in big RR land where the Evoque upgraded system is standard and there's a further £4000 upgrade available. Truth is, the standard Evoque system is pretty good. Don't waste your money trying to upgrade.

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

Honestly, now that I have mine, the base system is pretty good and I'm just as happy not to have spent money on the upgrade. Good luck if you try it though!

The upgraded one has surround sound and is very good.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

It's really not worth it, seriously. I've got the 825W system and my sister has the standard 380W in her car, and other than the mild surround sound effect, I'm hard pressed to find any difference between the two! (There are some differences, but I wouldn't have paid the extra... I bought mine 2nd hand and it just happened to have it)

I'm sure there are many other more useful projects you can do to your car Smile
