I did exactly the above when I collected my 5 series from a BMW dealer. I was not happy with the paint finish so I told them I wanted a new car with exactly the same specification. I used the new car with the paint blemish for a month before BMW delivered a fault free new car on a trailer to my house and took the month old car away. The only thing I needed to do was ring my insurance company to change the registration of my insured car.

Even though it might be 4 or 5 months longer, I don't see why LR couldn't do the same to rectify THEIR mistake.

That's already been declined in my case, but that was my proposal to LR
