Odd that the td4 freelander produces a lot more torque than the td4 evoque when tuned but the same power. Anyone know why this would be the case?

RE: Tuning box?

its because his base torque figures on the site are wrong for the Freelander and the Evoque TD4, this makes the tuned version look even more wrong.

Thanks

I have done over 5k miles with this unit and to date have not had the slightest problem, and i would recommend this unit..

A friend of mine has just fitted one to his works VW Caddy van, and he also can't believe the change in performance.

MPG around town is normally 32 and on a long run not quite 39 doing say 70-80 MPH, (i don't know if this is the same without the unit?)

Have you read the reviews on dealers websites? this might answer some of your concerns.

All i can add is that a lot of people are against these and would rather go for the re-map version, but if you did decide to choose this unit you are able to return within 14 days for a full refund, and you will also get a 3 year warranty with the unit..

RE: Tuning box?

thanks a lot Cutter, I will definitely go for box, do not want remaping. I will have SD4 AT 190 HP, and by test ride I was a bit confused by torque. So I want box just for improve this parameter and if posible the acceleration... is the acceleration also improving? And if yes, how much....
Thanks a lot.

RE: Tuning box?

I've scan read through the 7 pages, but didnt see the question... What is different in this box from one of the "fool the ecu into overfuelling" style boxes?

Genuinely interested, and am impressed with cutters response to the gadget Smile
Have you got any RR data to go with this yet?

Ordered: Fuji Dynamic Lux Coupe / style 7 wheels / Privacy glass / adaptive xenons / something else which I've forgotton.
Should be end of April (was March, then April, then end of May/June).

Yes there is very noticeable increase in acceleration especially between 3rd and 5th gears, percentage wise i would say between 20-30%. Power wise the BHP increasing from 190-235.

Basically the torque before the unit fitted is about 310 Ib/ft of torque and with the unit fitted this should increase to about 385/390 Ib/ft torque.

RE: Tuning box?

So far so good... Smile Regarding acceleration, how much does it make from 0-60? In seconds?

RE: Tuning box?

Just spoke to Greg at TDI-Tuning on this and he makes a whole lot of sense as regards what it does and how it works: it's essentially electronic and manages the ECU (within it's and the engine's tolerances).

I didn't know (but suspected) that our engine is the Peugeot-Ford unit and is found in all sorts of things including the Jag XF (and he's also of the opinion that the Evoque will end up with the 3.0l unit that's in the XF today - which is a lovely engine!)

Anyhoo... I bought the box

Prestige 5dr SD4 auto. Lux pack. Ipanema sand/Spirit. Privacy glass. Ordered 10 Sept, delivered 6 March 2012
