RE: Service package.

Using the check sheets ive attached you will see what you are getting for the money.

I would personally wait or call Nick at Yoevil landrover to see about his "TLC type" deal before you jump into a contracted service deal. Even if you are not near to Nick at Yoevil Landrover Somerset he does a storming deal on parts for forum members that you can fit your self or get a local garage to fit.

Will the TLC deal from Nick cover those of us who have already gained control of our vehilces????

I will be doing dealer level services using Landrover parts and diagnostic tools etc. You can still keep your warranty if you have a car services at an independant if the correct LR parts are used.

I appreciate some people want a LR stamp in the service book and not a non LR stamp, But a stamp is a stamp and as long as the car is serviced correctly it does not matter and your warranty is safe.

I even fit parts that are sent direct from Nick at Yoevil for customers and only charge for labor and oils.

Tony

I was offered a 3 year service deal when I bought my Freelander 2 @ over £1300 & that was supposedly with a £150 discount. I didn't mince my words when I told them what I thought of it!

I think tyres are going to be a major expense (comparatively speaking) with this car.

Yes a lot of people forget this ...we had to pay out for 1 new Pirelli P Zero Rosso on the rear 2 weeks after picking car up At £160 or so per corner and then 2 fronts after 14000 miles (worn out) and then another new front 3 weeks after that from another puncture. So as Mark says beware and budget for a new set every year depending on mileage of course.
Again if using off road wear will probably be more excessive.
maybe Maintenance and Tyre contract is the way to go (not for everybody though).

RE: Service package.

Depends on what tyres you go for but a Continental (and I know they are not highly favoured here) could cost £300 on a 20 inch rim. Old RR hands will be used to it, but I think the tyres for an RRE are more expensive than for many of the cars we're moving on from.

RE: Service package.

By way of comparison ........ Volvo are offering a 3 year servicing pack for £300 on the XC60 and VW a FREE 3 year/30,000 miles servicing plan at the moment.

These put the initial LR dealer offer into some sort perspective. Especially as virtually all of us have paid list price for our cars when 5-10% discounts are the norm for competitors.

RE: Service package.

LR don't need to offer much if anything in the way of incentives since they can sell every one they can make. They may want to keep the servicing business in the dealer network hence the service plans.

Looking at the info Pete posted, servicing looks pretty straightforward but that doesn't mean it will be cheap. Do dealers do menu priced servicing or is it a case of waving a wet finger in the air and charging what they think they can get away with?
