Recall: Audi Q5 for Shattering Sunroofs

I hope the Evoque will be ok....

Audi is recalling 13,172 Q5 crossovers for glass sunroofs that could suddenly shatter in "extremely cold weather," according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Q5 has one of the largest glass sunroofs in the industry, sweeping across the entire seating area. (You'll know a car features an open roof this big if you see the words "panorama" or "panoramic" in the options list.) Last winter, some Audi dealers reported broken glass in the front section of the sunroof -- the part that actually opens, on Q5 models with the power-sliding sun shade.

Audi headquarters in Germany concluded that very cold temperatures were causing some of the glass roofs to crack. Dealers will replace the front glass panel on all affected Q5s starting Aug. 7, and customers can call Audi at 1-800-822-8987 to find out if their 2012 Q5 is under the recall.

RE: Recall: Audi Q5 for Shattering Sunroofs

So cutting a hole in an already large roof isn't going to weaken it more??? Could be a very good reason why LR don't offer an opening section. They had enough problems with the pre-production cars with panoramic roof shattering offroad as it was. The glass roof and the front screen are very big contributors to the structural strength of the car so why would anybody want to weaken it with putting an opening section into an already weakened part?
