Land Rover Experience Skipton - New RR and the awesome sat nav set up!

Righteo,

Went on a freebee Land Rover Experience in Skipton on Saturday. Just by chance, a LR rep turned up in the new RR. Pretty cool. I did notice though that despite the fact that the sat nav screen is the same as in the Evoque, the buttons to the side are 'touch' rather than 'press'. Much much neater, very cool indeed. Here is a pic:

I wonder if this will appear on the Evoque at some point.... Anyone tempted to go bigger and upscale to a RR, DO IT! Far too big for my needs but a lovely car. By the way, the Evoque is far more capable off road than I would ever imagined. Very impressive!

Some more pics for those interested:

I came to Evoque from a 2010MY FFRR, it was way bigger than my needs and the new one is even bigger although the prices are not that much higher. It's a fantastic car but I don't think the darker colours suits it as well as Silver and Grey

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

The sunroof on the new RR looks fixed and extending to the back seats like the Evoque. I am still craving for a sunroof that can open...

Got mine : Dynamic Fuji White with Lux Pack and black contrast roof.
Optional extras : Privacy glass, Heated steering wheel and TPMS.
Me: Very HappyVery Happy

awesome. it is expensive but considering they maintain the shape for such a long time you could spread the cost over many years before you have the 'old shape'. like Carreras..

SD4 - Orkney Grey - Dynamic Coupe Lux: ebony leather, style 8, black panoramic roof, satin brushed and gloss black interior, aeroflip, adaptive xenons

At the Paris car show (see my pics) the one they had had an opening front section.

Saw one on the M25 the other day splattered in mud and running on trade plates. It was this shdae but had a contrasting silver roof.

It looked much better than I was expecting and the contrasting roof definitely helped.

Funny how only a few years ago just about everything came with a sunroof, often even as standard whereas these days they're actually pretty rare. The other day I was looking down on my kids' school car park which must have had about 25 cars in, not one of them with a sunroof. Maybe it's since A/C has become the norm?

RE: Land Rover Experience Skipton - New RR and the awesome sat nav set up!

But the sunroofs that used to be fitted were often the pop out type rather than factory fitted, they were noisy when open and often after a couple of years the seals round the frame failed. My Def90 has one of this type as a factory fitted option - it has never leaked BUT where the steel surround is a pain in the winter as it gets condensation on it and somehow whenever I go over a bump or round a corner I get a torrent of icy cold water either down the back of my neck or down the neck of any passenger! TBH with the amount of flexing that the body of an offroad vehicle can suffer the last thing I would want in my new £110,000 L405 would be a panoramic roof, with or without an opening section. One torsional twist of the body offroad I suspect that the opening sections seals will not make properly again. Even with the no opening pano roof I would be very very careful which shooting ranges I took my FFRR over for fear of popping the seals due to the torsion effect.
