How much deposit did you put down?

I've seen varying deposit amounts requested by dealers and some seem to have more flexibility than others.

If you're prepared to say I think it would be interesting to know how much people are generally prepared to let the dealers sit on for what is typically a 6 month wait...

Also interested to know how many were able to pay deposit by credit card vs debit card.

RE: How much deposit did you put down?

£500 asked for by pentland which was fully refundable at any time even after my build was booked in. Local dealer wanted £1000 which became non refundable after build was locked in, the way it was positioned put me off them and I used a dealer further away.

Ordered Feb 2012 - Orkney grey 5dr Dynamic SD4 Automatic. Lux pack, Dynamic plus Pack (velocity ebony leather) ebony headliner and gloss black finishers. Shadow chrome style 7s, heated steering wheel and a spare wheel just in case! Build date 6/7/12 delivery date 23/7/12. Built 3/7 pick up 14/7!!!!!

RE: How much deposit did you put down?

I paid £1000 as an expression of interest in 2009, that was then used as the deposit when my order was confirmed in Feb 2011 and then on March 21st 2011 was asked to put down another £1000 to fix my order / spec

I currently have £1000 to be on the "expression of interest" list for the 2016 DC100 in LPR's bank account

In all cases up to 21st March my money was 100% refundable and I think that James would have refunded it still had I been to the Unleashed event and found I hated the car.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

£1000 deposit refundable until build slot locked in and spec confirmed. Then another £1000. Both then non-refundable. However, we didn't have the funds for the second £1k due to end of financial year. Dealer (GuySalmon) happily waived second 1k.

Pure 5 door ed4 Santorini black, ebony headline, tech + pure style pack, privacy glass, pano roof, park assist, rear camera, auto dim mirror, roof and cross rails, 19" sparkle

£1000 no leeway, also refundable until build slot locked in and spec confirmed, then deposit payment on collection day.

Incidentally the debit card payment was a good hour after the high street banks closed, so was hoping there was no refer to bank call. There wasn't all went smoothly.

Used Credit Card, as I understand if you make a part payment on Credit card you get their full insurance cover on the whole amount... but I could be wrong!
