Front Lights - Question

Hi,

When I am driving in the morning I notice my front lights are on (looks to be a semi-beam)...I only noticed it in the reflection of the car in front.

Anyway, I m not sure why this is on. I have auto-lighting but (correct me if I am wrong) once it is on, a light symbol appears on the display. In this case there is no such light indicating that the light is on.

Also, can fog lights be manually switched on when auto-lighting is activted? I asume fog lights aren't auto. (Note: the lights I refer to above are not the fog lights)

Are you sure it's not just the daylight running lights - they are quite bright? (Yes, you are right, your auto lights would indicate on the display if they were on).

RE: Front Lights - Question

RRE has Daylight running lights as required by law in the UK. I suspect that what you see reflected in the rear of the car in front are the rather bright DRL's. These cannot be switched off at all, they are a legal requirement imposed by Brussels. They work with the lights switch in off or auto. The rear lights do not come on with them, which is something members here are asking for.

When the auto-on head lights come on you get a green lights icon in the left hand side of the speedo dial, when they are off , no icon.

Fog lights can only be manually switched on with the main headlights on, they will not come on if you manually switch on the parking/side lights setting - whether they are in manual or auto-on mode the fogs will not operate without the headlights burning. If you have been using the fog lights and then stop and switch off the engine the fogs will default to the off setting so next time you drive off you will not drive off with the fogs on, if you need them you will have to turn them on again manually

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Hi,
I Thought DRL only fitted with Zenons? Am I wrong?

No the Zenons come with Signature DRLs, Halogens still have DRL's but a different design, if you use the search function you will find photos of both types
