Changing the rear disc and pads?

Just had mine changed as were down to 2mm after 50k.
Chickened out of changing them myself so they cost £227 to fit. :0(

RE: Changing the rear disc and pads?

At 2nd year service, the dealer said I probably need to change my rear pads in about 6 months as they had 'only' 6mm left.

So I confirmed, "They start with 10mm?"
"Yes"
"And need to be changed at about 2mm?"
"Yes."
"So if I do the same mileage in the next last 2 years as the next 2 years, they'll need replacing in...2 years?"
"Well you might wear them out quicker."

Happy to be corrected if brake pads wear more quickly once at the end, but that seemed very fishy to me.

The good news is that the service report suggests my tyres now have more tread on them that when the car got inspected for a recall when it was only 6 months old (and I was told the balance was probably out on one tyre). So maybe my brake pads will get thicker too?!
