9 speed configuration

Good evening everyone, picked my evoque back up after its second service today.
When I dropped it off they said there was a new configuration for the 9 speed auto to make it smoother and less harsh..... Couldn't tell a difference when I drove it out of Stratstone. Has anyone else had this done and able to shed a little light on the subject?
Also noticed a considerable drop in mpg in the months running upto its second service, hoping it will Improve now the service has been done.
