Hi

Can anybody give me some advice on a no starting problem with an Evoque diesel.

Car was running fine, stopped at a shop, came out and it cranked but no start. Scanned and FC was
P062A: Electric Fuel Pump 1: Control Circuit Malfunction.

Presumed Fuel Pump Control Module, so stripped out the rear drivers side wheel liner to get to it but it's not there.

Anybody know where it is? I thought it would be there as the car is registered 2017 but it's starting to look like it was built early 2016 from the VIN which seems to be around the change over of location.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,
I have determined using ChatGPT that my battery positive auxiliary cable is "burnt" out at the battery end. It runs from the positive terminal fusable link nut to the fuse box and intermittently becomes disconnected causing no power at all to the vehicle. By touching it, the car comes to life. It is a 2015 Diesel Evoque Convertible and I think it has been dodgy for awhile as I sometimes get sensor faults and all sorts of flashing when driving and after the auto start/stop kicks in. I thought it was the battery, but it is definitely the cable.
My question is, can I just "repair" it with either a new cable of same specs, and/or re-crimp the burnt end?
I am looking at a fair bit of $$ if I buy the OEM cable LR067369, but it just looks like a big red multi-strand 10mm diameter cable with two crimps.
Appreciate any advice or other experiences of this nature.
Cheers,
Hodgii
The orignal unit filled with water, I repaced it and still the brake light did not work. I connected the replacement unit to the left side and all lights work correctly. The red LEDs function correctly for all other needs.
I believe that this is a very common problem but I've yet to find any sort of solution from internet/forum searches.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi There,

So we have had a 64 plate 2.2D SD4 for a number of years and a few times a year we are pulling out of a junction, or a roundabout, and we have virtually no power for about 3-4 seconds, then bang, the turbo kicks in and we are away.

it happens totally randomly, but the other day my wife said it happened 4 times in one trip, and then is absolutely fine, no issue. No dashboard warning light ever lights when it is doing this, or when we start or stop the car.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer I seem to think it could be the turbo controller/actuator/wastegate issue, but looking through some of the posts on this site seems to be reasonably common, but no real fix?

i have a basic OBD fault code scanner which I connected last night, with no stored or live codes on the ECU.

seen the throttle reset instructions on here, but not carried this out, but can anyone assist me me please with a workable theory?
Also the DSC On message comes on (even though its already on) just before the gearbox fault message appears.
Hi all

urgent help please if possible. I undertake unsealing of cars and I've had a 2012 Evoque SD4 auto in the workshop for the past 2 days (I run Evoque's myself and currently have a 65 plate HSE Dynamic Lux).

I went to move the customers car out this afternoon after completing the work, opened the door, interior lights come on, l put my foot on brake pedal, pushed the start button - nothing !. Strange I thought, tried again, nothing. Nothing on dashboard comes on, and the gear selector dial does light up or rise.

I have since done the following :

- got out, locked and unlocked the car - several times !
- charged the battery for an hour
- tried placing the smart key under the steering column
- tried jump leads

All with no effect whatsoever.

No dashboard lights or messages, no auto selector response.

Sidelights, and headlight flasher works, as does interior lighting and locking and unlocking.

I've spoken with dealers in Shrewsbury and they just suggested what I've already done. Spoken with a LR independent inTelford who suggested doing a hard reset by disconnecting the battery leads and touching them together for a few mins to drain things down (not heard of that one before) - not tried it yet as its a customers car.

I tried the forced raising of the gear selector by using the + paddle but no joy as there is no power getting to the selector. Its stuck in P so I can't move it.

The customer is bringing the 2nd fob tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure that is the problem, but it does seem to be like an immobilising issue.

Anyone experience or know of this happening - any advice warmly welcomed please

I pulled over and shut off car then started back. power steering was back to normal for a mile or two, then same issue.

could it be just battery? i do get the 3 mim shutoff message a lot when starting the car. i don't think any mechanical failure since the car steers without issue for a while when restarted.

also tried to look for power steering fluid location, can't find it. manual doesn't say where as well. is it because it is electronic power steering assist?

can anyone chime in. thanks

Hi , I am new to The evoque world but not new to the motor trade. I’ve had my evoque for about 3 months now and am becoming increasingly frustrated with the gearbox which I feel seems to hold in 2nd before going into 3rd with a bit of a kick . Ive reset the adaptive values with my Snapon solus ultra which didn’t seem to make any difference so I have taken it to my local dealer who have checked for any software updates and carried out a reset and relearn of the addaptive values . I have been told that this hasn’t improved it , the next step is to change the oil , this seems a bit of a mine field as the OE oil is LR023288 which on the ZF website cross refers to lifeguard 8 but on ZF’s website they list lifeguard 9 for 9sp and lifeguard 8 for 8sp !! As both these oils are pretty expensive I was wondering if anyone had any insight into these oils . I have also spoken to a specialist who have the ability to flush the transmission which cannot be done with a simple drain and refill , they use a Q8 product but need to check into wether it is suitable for the 9sp transmission . I am just wondering if anyone has felt an improvement with an oil change or is the gearbox a bit of a flawed product as the more I read about them the less confident I feel !! The evoque is a 2014 model which is very early for the 9sp transmission but has only covered 62000 miles so along way short of really needing a fluid change , any tips or advice would be welcome .

This may help others and has been discussed with a video of the noise on other forums.
The noise occurs randomly and makes the car sound like an old diesel tractor when it’s just started up. It’s random and the car can’t be forced to make the noise.
It turns out the fix is to either realign the whole exhaust system or replace it.
Seems to be a resonance of the baffles, or a poorly constructed exhaust element that causes the problem.
Mines ok now.

I bought a new Evoque in 2017 and never tested the spare. I temporarily mislaid my usual fob and found the new fob which has never been used, just locked away for three years. It wouldn't work so I was advised by LR to change the battery which I have done, still doesn't work. I called LR who advised I should bring the car in and they would check the battery. Went in this morning, not interested in checking my new battery and was told I would have to pay £168.00 to get it working (one hour labour)! I have an extended two years LR warranty on the vehicle. Apparently too bad, LR warranty does not cover the fob (although it is brand new and never used). The service person was miserable and clearly didnt want to be working on Saturday. Is this correct and I presume I have to use LR to sort? Many thanks.
