Sounds like the battery is on it's way out. I got the same message on my 2013 Evoque for a number of months, until I eventually bit the bullet and replaced the battery.

Doody, just a thought with your problem - if the door is not shut then the parking brake wont disengage automatically, which can be a pain if you leave the door open to look backwards when reversing. ...

I decided against the extended warranty last year, then had a Haldex fault which would have cost around £700 to fix, when the dealer advised it would be fully covered under goodwill. Result!
