20" vs 19' Tyre Size - blacktrees1 - 08-09-2011 12:52pm

I've got a bit of a dilemma going on. I've got a OG Prestige on order with style 7 wheels. In my mind they look awesome, however a little hard ride and fairly low profile tyres.

I have a back problem and therefore comfort is a huge priority for me. The standard 19s feel great but don't look so good and the style 4's seem a bit boring IMO. Comfort vs' looks Dilemma ..Arghhh

I was wondering if it would be possible to get opinions on running the style 7 20's with 55 profile tyres rather than the std 45 profile.

I ran 20" wheels on my Touareg with 55 profile. I guess it's not that straight forward but would appreciate the thoughts of the community.

I'm in exactly the same situation, right down to the bad back and OG prestige on 19's. Like you the wheels aren't my first choice but having seen them on the car they do look a bit better than I imagined. Anyway, my back wins the argument. A few cars ago I had the M Sport 3 series with the 18's and run-flats and they nearly saw me off. I think the type 3 is also nice (personal preference) and they are 19's but are not on the prestige option list.

I'm with you guys, such a difficult decision. I just dont like the look of either the style 4 or 5, 19 inchers. The 20's just make the car. However Ive gone for the Prestige rather than the Dynamic due to the interior, so my heads telling me 19's!!!!!

As it stands Im sticking to the 20's, but have also considered switching back to the 19's, then buying new wheels and maybe sticking some winter tyres on the 19's that came with the car.

Yeah, I'm with you on the style 3's, they look better than style 4. I understand they come with Tech pack for the Pure.

I've got Style 4 19"s on my Dynamic order at the mo as think 45 profile tyres look too thin (rubber bands), but also do think they're a bit boring, but for some reason the Prestige 19"s aren't available on the Dynamic. Although configurator has a rim only option now which i'll be discussing with the dealer tonight. Have to say after driving a Dynamic on 20" it didn't feel stiff or bumpy on standard AD mode, in fact my wife wanted the ride stiffer when driving, but also I don't have a bad back to worry about, thankfully.

I have ordered style 3 but don't think they r part of Tech pack (if they r then I am paying for them twice!) - did u mean Style pack?

Thanks for posting that review! I too like that style of 19" and have chosen them for my vehicle.
I must add that this decision was given the thumbs up by one of the product specialists who has been driving the North American Evoques from dealership to dealership since early August. He flat out said go with the 19" - with no hesitation.
I prefer a more comfortable ride on the less than perfect roads we have here - and the last thing I want the car to look like is some gangster-mobile with bling galore. If you have ever had to pay for "curb rash" repairs you might also shy away from larger alloys and low profile tyres - although that might be a lady thing...Embarrassed

Thanks for the vid, the style 4 do look good and sure i'll be happy with them (dealer says unlikely order can change now), and will for sure be better for general use, snow etc, If i'm really unsure can always use these wheels for some winter tyres and get some more of my choice... Very Happy

I noticed at the launch the 20s are 245/45 good year, 19s were 235/55 continental, the continentals had pretty large lettering on them which was a bit in-yer-face for tyres, and the 20s looked good with that bit of extra width.
