Does the MY2014 Evoque have slower acceleration than previous models??? - kjamora - 01-03-2014 02:25am I've come across an article and a YouTube video clocking the 0-60mph times at 8.5s!!! This is much slower than the MY2013 times of 7.3s. How disappointing. Can any MY2014 owners confirm this? Also can those who have owned previous MY share their thoughts? Are the differences noticeable? I'm more interested in the Si4 petrol model's times. YouTube video: http://youtu.be/hKpihnfY06M (the video states this is the Si4 model) Article: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/range-rover-evoque/85390/range-rover-evoque-2014-review (just realized this is referring to the diesel) thanks in advance. RE: Does the MY2014 Evoque have slower acceleration than previous models??? - HeartbreakRidge - 01-03-2014 04:46am Considering the new 9 speed transmission by all accounts cuts down a bit on turbo lag, I'd doubt it. The comments raise possible issues which could affect the time - altitude, and that it started in 2nd. I also wonder if there would be a difference between D and S settings if manual shifting is not used (or conversely if manual shifting could produce a better result). I suppose it's also worth noting that even with the prior test he was almost .3 seconds slower than the quoted speed. This guy didn't show a running timer, but he claims 6.5 seconds and it does seem to be a faster run. RE: Does the MY2014 Evoque have slower acceleration than previous models??? - tarbat - 01-03-2014 10:17am The video states "0-60MPH test @ 1 mile above sea level". Wouldn't such a high altitude have a significant impact on performance? Maybe the test was carried out near the "one-mile high city". If I recall, the original test was under the same conditions - 1 mile up and the same road. Let's hope it was just a wetter road or the second gear thing messing with 2014's mojo! RE: Does the MY2014 Evoque have slower acceleration than previous models??? - kjamora - 01-03-2014 06:37pm Thanks everybody for your responses. Here is the video of the MY2013 for some comparison/reference: http://youtu.be/A-asNbRU6rg Let's hope it's the subtle variables that affected the 2 different results. RE: Does the MY2014 Evoque have slower acceleration than previous models??? - PhilSkill - 02-03-2014 12:19am A quick look at the 2 comparable videos and there is an extra gear change just before 60mph, same change point at 6200rpm so some loss from the gear change time, but as the ratio's are lower youd expect to gain a little back, probably the engine mapping has been made to improve economy. |
