It was scary fixing these bars ( metal against metal on photo 1, then carrying the whole lot over the pano roof ) but it all fits very well and I'm happy with the result.

I know! the pain! the top parts are made of rubber, but no pads on the parts that go under into the door, but the shape fits perfectly (part specifically for the Evoque) I was tempted to put some padding under the metal but I didn't want to risk having the rack and skis flying off on the motorway Laughing

Makes me shudder with distress for your paintwork and rubber door seals. Even a thin piece of rubber or felt would help the paint from being scratched by any movement or compression cracked at the pressure points?

It's not bare metal - the parts are coated Ian very thick rubberised paint which is specifically designed not to mark or scratch.
