MPG... What's the problem? - EpicEvo - 30-12-2012 08:31pm

My TD4 gets delivered in 3-4 weeks and I have been on this forum many months now and have seen god knows how many people saying how disappointed they are... How shocking it is ect...

Really? It's a heavy 4x4 with enough tech to run NASA...

If I get 30mpg+ ill be chuffed!!

Is this just me? Lol

The manufacturer figures are significantly better than 30mpg and its not really that heavy a car, considering how much effort they went to to make it light!

I currently get about 27mpg on my SD4

I think owners are annoyed at the manufacturers claimed mpg more than the actual.

My SD4 got just less than my Kuga it replaced, but it was the fact that it was meant to do far higher mpg that left a sour taste with me.

Fair point I suppose. But it's the same with any manufacturer tho. They all claim silly high MPG and its been known for a long time now these figures are as good as impossible to get unless sat on a car treadmill Smile

I managed to get 10mpl on a long journey but generally averaging 8.9mpl
No idea if this is good or not on my ed4.

I had a 08MY FL2 the fuel figure then was 37mpg which it used to get no problem, my Evoque struggles mid 30s, and that's supposed to be progress. The problem is the TD4 is an ageing engine, the same engine that's been in the Fl2 since 2006, it's only had minor tweaks to comply with new emission regulations, LR are expecting an engine to get about 50mpg that only a few years ago could only manage 37mpg.

Based on my last fill up I got 421miles from 3/4s of a tank, which seems pretty good, so overall I'm happy but improvements need to be made.

How much does it cost to full an evoque?

I get around 500 miles to a tank, which works to about 39 mpg. That's a lot of 1hr + journeys for work though. This holiday week has been 35mpg with shorter runs. It's always better when the temp gets back into double figures too. SD4 manual by the way.

It's a 60ltr tank x whatever diesel costs in your area.
