Fuel experience - cs33wa - 19-12-2012 07:46am Hi all Australia owner, Its been nearly 5 months of waiting, my "darling" is expected to arrive next month (according to dealer). The wait is killing me!!! While waiting, I am keen to know the fuel(petrol) experience from Si4 owner in Aus. What fuel(95 or 9 and which brand you use? Do you notice any difference between different fuel? Thank you for sharing Merry Xmas and happy new year to all! CS Fuel experience - Stadt Panzer - 19-12-2012 08:01am I presume by 95 or 98 you are referring to the octane rating! In which case I'd only use 98, 95 in Europe is fine for old/ small cars but for anything else BMW, Audi etc no one would use anything lower than 98. "in Europe" ah, the German european domination From personal experience I think you'll find 95 is the fuel of choice in UK and Sweden. 98 is the reserve of performance cars and chavs (bogans) in go faster Corsas. RE: Fuel experience - pn12 - 19-12-2012 12:01pm 95 RON is definitely the choice for most cars in the UK, including BMWs, Mercs, etc. (19-12-2012 08:40am)Sarcastrix Wrote: 98 is the reserve of performance cars and chavs (bogans) in go faster Corsas. Aaah the Max Power brigade ..... I do miss them at the lights revving their engines. I've used that I all my previous cars and I'm neither a chav nor bogan... Fuel experience - Jai - 20-12-2012 03:44am Ultimate 98 in any forced induction car. Also helps in summer when fuel gets a bit hot and lifeless! RE: Fuel experience - cs33wa - 20-12-2012 05:26am What about Caltex 98?? Or Shell 98?? RE: Fuel experience - Nut - 20-12-2012 08:20am I've only run BP Ultimate 98 in my Si4 since having it so I can't compare other fuel types. But as others have said, for peace of mind I'd stick with 98 and use 95 as a minimum. Oh, and you can also run the ethanol blends as long as they are 95 and above. Cheers RE: Fuel experience - pn12 - 20-12-2012 12:02pm (20-12-2012 01:15am)Hamsey Wrote: I only ever use BP Ultimate which is 98. I think the reference to chav (UK version of bogan) was for UK drivers, as the original responder claimed that in Europe everyone with a premium brand car used 98. RE: Fuel experience - cs33wa - 20-12-2012 12:52pm I used to own a Honda Accord Euro, which only take premium fuel. After talking to many people then, BP ultimate seems to be the best fuel in Australia. My Honda was running BP since day 1. I am just wondering whether Caltex Voltex 98 or Shell 98 give the same performance. |
