Australias Best (or should that be Worst) Car of the year results... - DefLeppard - 01-12-2012 11:21pm

Oh dear. SMH in disbelief.

Just been reading the Australian Best Car of the year awards.
See link below.
RACV Best Cars awards

Full results can be viewed here ....

The Evoque came 11th in its category. Shame Australia Shame!

I made a comment on the page to express my absolute disgust at the results. (feel free to do the same!)
The Evoque was placed in the SUV over $40k category, up against Hyundais and Kias, and not where it belonged - in the Luxury SUV over $60k category, up against Audis, Volvos, BMWs and VW's.

These reviews are stupid. Best sports car over $80k and they rate the m3. Yeah sure that's true, but there's dozens more cars above 80k that cream the m3!

Cs... What is the convenience pack?

To be fair, it was put up against the Q3, the X1, the X3 and the XC60 - which are some of its natural competitors.

It lost badly on value but scored highly in other areas. I love my Evoque, but it is expensive and it is woefully underequipped so it seems a relatively fair evaluation I reckon.

If it was bumped up into the luxury SUV category to take on things like the Range Rover Sport, the X5 etc then what it made up for in now being cheaper than its competitors, it would lose out even worse in relation to performance, space, equipment etc.

Just my 2c though.

From memory..
Convenient pack = power tailgate, keyless entry, boot rail system.

The thing I really want is the power tailgate. It doesn't come as an individual option anymore, so you have to order the pack in order to have the power tailgate. Thats why I didn't pay too much attention to other things in the package Laughing

Australia's best SUV is a Hyundai... ! Royal Auto must like cheap, practical, boring, plasticy, ugly cars to drive round in... Wink Doubt theres anything wrong with the Hyundai, but its in no class of the Rangie!

Still save some wonga on the motor and we can afford a few more beers for the barbie mate!
