THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - Poke - 26-11-2012 12:21pm Hi everyone As i did some research on internet to buy some Thule K-Summit snow chains for my evoque (235/55 - 19) i have encountered a problem. Some of internet dealer advocate the XL K56 model for SUV weighing less than 2000 kg (wich is the case for the evoque), but if i use the Thule's "fit guide" they recommend the XXL K66 model. Exemples: http://www.cliffordsbrighton.com/Thule-K-Summit-K56-XL-Snow-Chains http://www.thule.com/fitguide/default.aspx?Language=en&Market=FR So i'm a bit confused, could some one help please ? ![]() RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - AandM1228 - 26-11-2012 01:04pm (26-11-2012 12:21pm)Poke Wrote: Hi everyone Here is a thread regarding snow chains from earlier.... http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Recommended-Snow-Chains?page=2&highlight=Snow+chains Looks like the K56 is doable if you remove some one the spacers/links? Not positive though. I ordered the Rud Centrax system and could never get it to pull up over the tires like they were supposed to. Ended up sending them back and ordered the Maggi Trak 4x4 system and it worked like a charm... Took about 30 seconds to mount. Also about £100 less then the Thule. I really would like to buy the K-Summit because you don't need a hub previously fixed on your rim and because the system can be fold wich save a lot of space in the booth. RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - o3zone - 03-12-2012 05:41am I too would like to know RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - Poke - 05-12-2012 10:44am For those who can be interested, I copy/past the answer I just received from Thule: "Your question has been the subject of genuine debate between our engineering products. Debate is between the resistance of the snow chain and product approvals between EEC countries They all agree that the K 56 support the technical constraints of the vehicle but the view diverge about the EEC aprouvals. In your case you have no choice, however, only 66 K chain is able to be mount on your tire 235/55R19. Many of our documents were printed with chain K 56 but it is a mistake only the K66 is permitted for Evoque in 235/55R19." RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - o3zone - 05-12-2012 10:43pm very interesting, I wonder if that applies to the 20 inch wheels too (05-12-2012 10:44am)Poke Wrote: For those who can be interested, I copy/past the answer I just received from Thule: RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - Poke - 06-12-2012 04:08pm The Thule fiting guide says Xl K56 for the 20" ![]() But if i were you i will send a mail to a Thule technician to be sure. They answer very quickly. http://www.thule.com/en/GB RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - mmuller - 13-12-2012 11:21am Hey Poke, Did u end up buying the K66? How did it go? I was thinking about this one for my winter tyres set on 235/60/18 and since the manual states you cannot use them on anything bigger than the 17'' I was wondering if you had any problems with it on your 19'' inches. Cheers, RE: THULE K-SUMMIT Choice XL K56 or XL K66 - Poke - 13-12-2012 12:08pm Hi, I can't tell, i just had them yesterday. i will probably wait the first snow to try them.
