In all previous cars I have owned a part turn of the wheel with ignition off locks it.... But this doesn't seem to happen on Evoque? RE: New owner questions.... - vinda - 16-06-2012 12:40am No RE: New owner questions.... - BaringTech - 16-06-2012 08:51am Yes, it does... Page 8 of the manual: STEERING COLUMN LOCK During vehicle recovery, a Smart Key must remain inside the vehicle, so that the steering column remains unlocked. See 216, RECOVERY. Your vehicle is fitted with an electronic steering column lock, which locks and unlocks in conjunction with the vehicle locking system. It also locks automatically, after a time delay, if the ignition is switched off and the Smart Key is removed from the vehicle. New owner questions.... - Rossy100 - 16-06-2012 08:53am Aha. So it does lock but the driver won't ever see this if only activated when you lock the car. Thanks! RE: New owner questions.... - THEMACS - 16-06-2012 09:32pm (16-06-2012 08:53am)Rossy100 Wrote: Aha. It locks after a predetermined period of time even if the door hasn't been locked as I have heard it when been sat in the car when the ignition has been turned off. But then if you have your smart key on you it won't lock! RE: New owner questions.... - paul_s - 16-06-2012 09:51pm Yes it locks even if the smart key is in the car, i have heard it lock when i have been sat in car with the engine off. Im guessing you must have to leave the ignition on if you are being recovered?
