Red or white?? REALLY can't decide... - j7david - 12-07-2011 11:17pm

So what do you all think?

Okay, I'm not actually so much interested in following a crowd's opinion on the "best" colour, but are there pros/cons to either red or white that I should know about?

Older cars in white usually look 'tired' or something to me. I don't know if it's dirt as such, or something about the way the paint ages, or what... but this concerns me.

How easy is it to keep a white car looking good? Does it need more attention than water/shampoo?

I'd love the white if those two issues weren't playing on my mind.

Okay, metallic red (seems really rare on the roads in anything resembling that bright Firenze shade that RR are using) -- again, older red cars tend to look faded... does that happen to newer paints/metallic colours?

I'd be getting Pure 5dr model (with panoramic roof, xenons and fog lights, in terms of visible external stuff), if anyone's seen the colours in real life on that model. I loved the red on the dynamic coupé, but that looks a bit different to the pure 5dr and I can't 100% visualize it. And the website configurator has awful colour representations.

i was also going through this dilemma, i have still stuck with white in the end, as i live in a hot climate and for once white looks good on this car, and all white cars here with the sun and dust seem to look better for longer. but i have also been looking into keeping it clean with the right products, and really its all down to using a good wax on your paintwork and then using the right PH balanced shampoo as not to wash the wax of when your cleaning the car. or just get it valeted often. this will keep that red looking good.

I chose Firenze at first, then had to change to Fuji due to the paint issue and finally back to Firenze when the paint issues were resolved.
I love the white, but I wanted the Ambience interior which essentially cream. I was worried that a white car with a cream interior wouldn't work, whereas the Red and cream contrast brilliantly (IMO), so I'm glad I've got my first choice of colour.
How long do you intend to keep the car? 1yr, 3yrs, 10 yrs? I would like to think that after 3 yrs the colours, both red and white should still be fresh, but maybe after 10 yrs, not so much!
What interior are you going for?
All a matter of personal taste really, but my choice of exterior is based on my interior choice ..... if that makes sense??

Makes perfect sense, I'm in exactly the same situation. I really wanted a light interior (Element in my case) which not only dictated Prestige (vs Dynamic) but also meant no white (for the same reasons you mentioned). I ended up with Orkney (given the contrast) but if had to go with White or Red, I'd go Red purely because of my interior choice.
