Why wait for 62 reg - Chunk - 16-05-2012 09:54pm Now that I've had my build date moved forward by 9 weeks it had taken away any doubt that I would have a 62 reg car, it would be delivered on the 23rd July and I was so excited. But someone mentioned on one of the forums they were waiting for the new 62 reg even though their car would also come in July and it threw a bit of doubt into my head. Apart from resale value (and can anyone clarify what they think will be the difference between a July 12 and sept 62 dynamic) Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't just take the car early and start to enjoy it much earlier?? Thoughts? RE: Why wait for 62 reg - ED209 - 16-05-2012 10:03pm Just take it earlier, the newer plate will hardly make any difference really as it will still be a 2012 reg car. RE: Why wait for 62 reg - cjfp - 16-05-2012 10:10pm There is no reason not to take it ASAP! RE: Why wait for 62 reg - smayo - 16-05-2012 10:37pm The new reg does make a difference but it will vary on model. Just out of curiosity, I just took a look at the glasses guide prices of a 3 year old Audi Q5 2.0TDI on an 09 and 59 plate (since there are no figures yet for the Evoque, and the Audi is the current market leader in terms of recorded depreciation). The result showed that the price difference was about 5% (about £900 on the particular model I looked at). Obviously the longer you keep the car the smaller the difference will be in cash terms. So its all down to balance really. How long will you keep the car and how much you will lose on resale compared with much you want the car. Is a few more weeks wait worth the best part of an extra £1k to you in 3 years time etc? RE: Why wait for 62 reg - DiscoDad - 16-05-2012 11:01pm Often the (perceived) MY comes into question. If the '13MY is available on '62 plates then it may command a bit more than a '12 plate. Especially if some of the early 'niggles' have been sorted out. RE: Why wait for 62 reg - RacingSnake - 17-05-2012 07:06am if it were 23rd August, then I'd say wait, but an "expected" delivery of 23rd July, is probably more likely to be a week to 10 days before that, at which point you'd delay by 6-7weeks purely for a registration? No, I don't think I'd wait. 6 days yes, 6 weeks, no. (IMHO) RE: Why wait for 62 reg - Daigriff - 17-05-2012 08:57am No brainer for me. Take it and enjoy RE: Why wait for 62 reg - steviep - 17-05-2012 12:37pm Personally I would take it straight away. I'd be surprised if the dealer would hold it for that long, I would have thought they would want their money. RE: Why wait for 62 reg - Chunk - 17-05-2012 09:15pm Thanks for the replies guys, 12 plate it is then!!! RE: Why wait for 62 reg - THEMACS - 17-05-2012 09:46pm I actually read somewhere that the March registrations hold onto their value a little better than the September registrations, sounds like to me, we have a 12 plate Evoque and a 57 plate BMW. I generally prefer th look of the September plates, although the 12 plate looks good too! |
