Some of the speakers are dual concentric drivers which means there are effectively two loudspeakers mounted in the same driver. This technique was pioneered many years ago by a company called Tannoy.

I would say Meridian for music as the other 2 are generally surround sound formats for films. Only a guess, but as you can play DVDs and watch TV, I suspect that is why these options are available.
Hope this helps

Hi,

i love music, my home set is a Linn Majik with subwoofer. So i was very enthusiastic when i listened to the 825 Meridian on the test drive.

I think there is no general best setting for all kinds of music.

When i listen to Sean Paul, Taio Cruz, Usher etc. Meridian has heavy bass, PLIIX has little less bass but is more exact without distortion. Pop and elder recordings from Pink Floyd, Eagles, sound better with the standard.

If you turn to more than 25 there are much distortions, but all in all its a very good sound.

Sounds like a plausible answer. Has anyone else noticed an echo when Meridian or the other surround modes are used. I seem to get an occasional echo when listening to talk radio on those settings.

As with any audio, there is no best setting for everyone / every type of music. It has to be down to your own ears
