Premium diesel ? - Tokenbod - 20-11-2011 08:58pm Quick question? Is it worth filling up my diesel evoque with premium diesel? Thanks Tokenbod RE: Premium diesel ? - Evo-king - 20-11-2011 09:21pm Probably not, unless it's the same price as normal diesel. Have owned and run diesels for the last 10 years and used a mixture of fuel suppliers without any adverse problems. In my last year before I retired I did just over 40000 miles in a golf diesel, using mainly supermarket diesel, the car performed brilliantly. RE: Premium diesel ? - PhilSkill - 20-11-2011 09:36pm If you believe Wikipedia... and I mean If. V-Power Diesel makes little difference to highly tuned common rail diesel engines. But in a older diesel engine it can reduce knocking and rough running. It is slightly less dense and has a lower energy content but ignites easier. I live close to a Supermarket so that's where it'll be getting filled mostly. RE: Premium diesel ? - Tokenbod - 20-11-2011 09:43pm Mmmm! Indeed, just been reading Wikipedia and other forums, although PhilSkill my previous experience of supermarket fuel has never been that good. Thank you both for the feedback. Tokenbod RE: Premium diesel ? - Evo-king - 20-11-2011 09:54pm There is another way, and I'm sure it could provoke a heavy debate. A few years back now I bought a new Lexus IS220d, from the outset I used a Millers Diesel additive, can't remember what it was called but I know its has been rebranded. Back the the Lexus had a 5th injector and there were terrible problems with this, hence the Millers product was recommended. Something like £8 a bottle which you added a certain amount per tank fill up. I never had any problems with the Lexus while I owned it but others on the Lexus forum did. You pay your money and you take your choice. |
