Can't believe someone managed 15,000kms in 3 months that's 60,000kms/year.

who says there's a shortage....

Land Rover's marketing team seem to be talking shit, with articles like this saying first 250 have been sold out until May. It's kind of odd to have nearly 250 available & May is two months away, so have 7 been sold with the rest cancelled orders?

RE: Carpoint - Available Cars - chiggy - 09-03-2012 08:41am

well the first 250 were possibly sold at the time the article was written? i.e. that was when the evoque was released - first week November 2011.

I know my car was ordered much before then so I'm assuming my car counted as one of the 250? So at November maybe they had 250 cars on order... in fact I remember when I ordered mine - I was told March-April 2011. I just got lucky and got an earlier build spot.

Then people started cancelling their orders post release and hence the influx of Evoque's for sale on carpoint.

Having said that, I don't doubt its still over-exaggerated somewhat.

Just starting to see a few with the pano roofs at dealer in Sydney.

Record 258 on there now. Getting pretty close to the RRS level.

Having said that - considering how much we've been complaining about how many cars there are for sale:

It's take 5 months to get to 258 cars for sale.

The Mazda CX-5 was released two weeks ago and already have 215 for sale.

So in that context - LR have sold a decent number of vehicles. (Agreed, there are more CX-5's produced than Evoques, but you get what I mean).

Still not many 5 door TD4 Dynamics... sadly

Going by the monthly sales figures for Land Rover in Australia the Evoque looks to have added about 200 sales a month.

In October 2011 (pre evoque in Oz) they sold 439 Land Rovers increasing to 648 in January 2012 (post evoque being here)

This could be inflated by the January runout on other models but it is in the order of a 50% increase in Land Rover sales since the Evoque launch in Australia

So having 200 cars available on Carpoint at any one time may only be just over a months supply.  We will know more in the coming months when more months stats are available.

In the meantime I am still enjoying mineVery Happy

They sold 717 Land Rovers in February, see link below

http://www.caradvice.com.au/162525/new-vehicle-sales-figures-feburary-2012/

well up from the 450 odd a month pre Evoque being available.

RE: Carpoint - Available Cars - spif888 - 12-03-2012 07:05am

Mazda will probably sell 10 times as many CX5s as LR sells Evoques, so when comparing apples with apples there should only be around 20 Evoques on Carsales.

I still believe there is a problem with stock levels when compared to demand.
