Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Ginge - 23-01-2018 02:49pm Hey all, I've recently purchased an Evoque and I absolutely love it. I'm still getting used to the quirks of it but have been hearing a weird noise that I didn't hear when driving a partners Evoque company car in the past. The engine seems to make a strange noise as revs are picking up, almost sounds like something is vibrating/loose and I can't tell if it's from the engine or from the rear. I've noticed this in a low gear and when on the motorway and it doesn't sound healthy. It's not the usual struggle noise when you're trying to accelerate in too low of a gear, it's more of that noise + a vibration/rattle that builds up and almost shakes the interior for a second or two before it passes. I really can't narrow down what could be causing it or if it's nothing to worry about at all. It's been to the garage once and I've been told they can't fault it, although not sure what they checked. Could it be the engine? something loose in the engine/bay or underbody? gear issues? Do you have any ideas? All appreciated! Thanks RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Doody - 23-01-2018 09:25pm total guess, but.... check the motor mounts. if the vibration and noise occur when you're hitting the gas that's causing the engine to torque against its mounts - and if the mounts are failing or failed, it can hit metal and you'll know it. especially if goes away when you lift up on the gas. doody RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Ginge - 23-01-2018 11:52pm Thanks doody, I’ll mention that when I take it to the garage. Is that quite a big issue if it’s the case? If they’ve failed could it be causing serious damage or is it a case of just replacing them because they’re an annoyance? RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Doody - 24-01-2018 04:38am i don't know how LR engineered the mounts, but abstractly speaking it shouldn't be a bit deal. but wtf do i know doody RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Ginge - 24-01-2018 12:39pm Found a few links which sound like a similar issue: http://www.evoqueownersclub.co.uk/forum/engine-vibrations_topic3875.html http://www.evoqueforum.com/archive/index.php/t-795.html?s=64912fc73df31966b2cd57d4e4e25487 http://babyrr.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-5562-1.html RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Steve D - 24-01-2018 01:01pm Exhaust baffles? If faulty/loose, they normally rattle at a set engine speed. RE: Help diagnosing a possible issue! - Ginge - 24-01-2018 01:21pm (24-01-2018 01:01pm)Steve D Wrote: Exhaust baffles?
