Pure vs Prestige - am I missing something? - brommy - 11-09-2011 06:06pm

So I've finally test driven an Evoque and I'm impressed.Very Happy I didn't get to see a Pure but drove an SD4 Auto Prestige and really liked the quality of the materials used. I was planning to add £4000 of options to the Pure so it got me thinking - should I just buy a Prestige? I've attempted to add options to equip a Pure up to Prestige but the Pure comes up over £2000 cheaper still. I've used the RRPs for an 5dr SD4 auto, which is my preference, but the differences would apply to any engine/body type.

Pure equipped to match Prestige Prestige

SD4 Auto £31,315.00 SD4 Auto £38,990.00
Metallic paint £550.00 Metallic paint £0.00
Carpet mats with edging £105.00 Carpet mats with edging £0.00
Paking aid - front £0.00 Paking aid - front £0.00
Parking aid - rear camera £300.00 Parking aid - rear camera £0.00
Rain sensing wipers £0.00 Rain sensing wipers £0.00
Automatic headlamp £0.00 Automatic headlamp £0.00
Xenon headlamps £710.00 Xenon headlamps £0.00
Front fag lamps £205.00 Front fag lamps £0.00
Tech pack £1,900.00 Tech pack £0.00
Pure Style £1,750.00 Pure Style £0.00

Pure equipped as a Prestige £36,835.00
Prestige £38,990.00

DIFFERENCE = £2155. Confused

I'm aware of the better resale value of a Prestige vs Pure with options and the better quality leather/dash material on the Prestige, but am I missing an option or two in the list above?Confused

I noticed today the Pure doesn't have any tread plates (silver trim on door sill). The Prestige has chrome tread plates and the Dynamic has boy racer spec illuminated ones. No idea on the price...but I'd guess that is another £100 at least.

You may have something here. I know that the prestige has the oxford leather and more advanced electric memory seats, which is very nice and it seems more classily finished but it is cheaper.

I suppose the analagy I'd use is whether you'd want the best house in a dodgy road, or the average house in the best street.

Get onto Landrover and ask them to give me a refund. Haha!

Enjoy whichever one you go for. Steve

@LP - Hadn't noticed that but not a great loss.
@brommy - the Pure vs Prestige argument has come up on a couple of other occassions - everyone puts forward points for and against, and the end result is that everyone is right and it's down to personal preference and situation.

If it's a personal purchase I would go prestige , if it's a company car I would go pure for lower BIK rating

Think you got most of it… if you really wanted to be precise then:

1. The door tread plates (they go for £136.80 online - may be able to get them cheaper)
2. The Style 5 wheels on the Prestige is £675 vs £450 for the style 3 or 4 that is part of the Style Pack) so whilst you won't have the Style 5's (and may not want them) it's still an incremental £225 that's include in the Prestige Price

That would take you down to ±£1,800 difference, which as you say would be the price for the
1. Better Leather on the seats,
2. Additional leather on the dash and dashboard topper
3. Leather on the doors itself
4. Additional seat adjustment (Tilt on driver seat and height on passenger seat)

Also if it tickles your fancy the Prestige will allow you to add Surround Camera's as well as AD both are expensive options so not part of price comparison but are not available on the Pure.

Bit of deja vu here, no? Confused

…….maybe the moderators need to check the search function? Surely no one would ask a question before looking through the older threadsConfused
