Crazy MPG (or KM/L) on 2012 SI4 ? - m0teki - 27-06-2016 10:12pm

Hello Guys ,
Recently joined the club , I was with "regular" cars up until now (Mazda 3 , Focus ETC) , and recently got a 2nd hand Evoque (2012 Pure)

3 Weeks ago , when I just got it - I fell in love with her , soon to understand it might have been false after all , please give me your thoughts Smile

1. I Live in the City , Yes - most of the drive I do is in it , But when I am outside - the best MP/G I can achieve is around 10 KM/L (23 MPG) - Does it make sense? Does this car Deem to have a very crappy KM/L ?

2. Will performance Tuning Help here ? Is there anyway to make this car more efficient? I Do not mind sacrificing power for that

3. Just came out from a big Service (Took it right after I bought) , Lamps , Engine tune , Oils , Plugs , ETC were changed , Today I got an amber engine light (Was WTF?) - I Am servicing tomorrow - but any idea what can it be ?

4. Since Cars from those years are RARE (2012) and 2013 is a tad expensive here (And everything that comes after it) - Is it possible to Retrofit anything to this car? I Was very disappointed (Impuslive buy) when seeing no Electronic folding mirrors , No Auto-Headlights , No Rain sensing wipers (Am I spoiled? Very Happy )

Thanks !

Hi and welcome

MPG seems a little low, 4wd does knock it a bit, maybe better after servicing?
Mapping may improve it but not a huge amount.
For the warning if nothing coming up on Dash, then you'll need an OBD reader to get the fault code.
Retrofit, is difficult and expensive, depending on your skill level, but unlikely you'll be able to as you will need sensors and wiring and mounts and switch stalks etc etc.

This seems normal for that age range. My car is a 2012 diesel and I only get 26mpg for my daily commute.

My car is averaging 10.3L/100km, 2012 SI4 Dynamic trim, can return me around 750km+/- per tank of petrol. so yours is actually better than mine, but taking into account that I`m running slightly bigger all terrain tyres (255/55/R19) towing hitch, full set of recovery gear, space saver tyres and tool to fix any eventualities, that work out to be just fine for me.

No worries mate, no one buys a evoque to save fuel, you will be better off in a pirius IMHO. lol

I have a 2 litre 2013 pure.

My commute is 17 miles each way or sometimes 5 miles each way with some town running. Put 6000 miles on it since I got it in March and average since I've had it is 44.4mpg

Seems to like the long run at around 70mph or 2000rpm the best
