Vinny where abouts did you get your service for 292 please? Cupar maybe? Or Pentland in Edinburgh?
I'm at 20k and hoping to manage until 3rd service for pads at which point I'll replace all the pads with ceramic ones.

So compared to mine, yours works out to be half what i paid overall....mine was $1720.00,and yours $880 AUD. Far out!!
Any Australian Evoques done their's? Our dealership here in Perth has the monopoly on the place regarding L.D car sales and service.....first service a year ago seemed acceptable, but i feel i got touched big time on this one.

The break down...
Second year service labour - $651.55
Induction service labour - $51.45
Rear brake pad labour - $233.15
Rear brake pads - $185.03
Total parts - $395.15
Total Petrol,Oils,Lubricants - $229.83
Total Misc - $2.51
Goods & Services Tax - $156.36

TOTAL INVOICE - $1720.00

I to feel that LR seem to be over charging for servicing particularly the 2nd. Here in the UK you can have your car serviced at any VAT registered garage so long as they use genuine LR parts. They will charge much less and LR must still honour your warranty. The downside is when you come to sell you don't have a book full of LR service stamps. Maybe if lots of us went to independents LR would reduce their prices to get the business back

^ also not sure what access an 'independent' has to software updates etc.

The 'independent' that services my neighbours Freelander has ZERO access to any LR software but he says they are 1/3 the price of the official LR dealer. However he does not count into the equasion the four figure repair bills he keeps picking up because it has not been serviced to the book. That is not to say that all official LR dealers complete the services fully - you pays your money and takes your choice etc.

I've just completed 2 years of owing my Evoque.

My car went in today for its 52 000km/2 year service to Austral Landrover Brisbane (the only Landrover dealership in Brisbane). I was quoted around $800 for the service which I thought was fair enough considering it only goes in every 12 months. I wish that was where my story ended but wait there is more.

At 15h05 I received a call from the service department saying that both front and rear brakes and discs needed replacing. The cost:
Front brake pads & discs $500
Labour to replace parts $400

Rear brake pads $ discs $500
Labour to replace parts $400

I collected the vehicle at 1730. Therefore in 2 hours 25 minutes the labour charge to complete the replacement of the pads and discs was $800 - coincidently the car also visited the wash bay during this time.

Total bill $2500 - almost 5% of the selling price of the vehicle.

FOOTNOTE: On my way to collect the car, I phoned the Landrover dealership on the Gold Coast (80km away) and the cost to replace the front and rear brake pads & discs - $1200 - 50% cheaper. I know where I'm taking my car next year for its service.

spif888...did they give a % wear of your brake pads, and a reason why your disc's needed changing for a car thats only 2 years old? Crazy prices too.....but it's interesting that your official LD dealer in Brisbane charges a standard & reasonable $800 for the second year service, where as my official LD dealer in Perth charges a a standard $1260 for the same job. Mmmm?

Please keep the comparisons coming. cheers

Benzina

No they didn't tell me the % of wear or specifically why the discs needed replacing.

In retrospect I shouldn't have accepted the quote and should have got quotes from the Gold Coast and from the dealership on the Sunshine Coast.

Interestingly the reason given for the price difference between the official dealerships of the Brisbane & GC was because of different labour rates. One would think that the rates would at least be similar and not that different that the charge could vary by 50%

As I mentioned already the labour charge was $800 and they only had about 2 hours to do the work - I would be surprised if their mechanics are on more than $30 an hour - it's just a major rort and has cash grab written all over it.

I'll be contacting Landrover Australia on Monday to discuss the excessive charges - will keep you posted.
