I had a Smart Fortwo and a 1995 MB C class (worth £2k max!) on an Admiral multicar policy

Yesterday I swapped out the Merc and it cost me an additional £350

And the Merc went on a limited mileage Footman James classic policy for just under £300. A lot of cash but I was pleasantly surprised on the size of the incremental cost. The two main cars will cost about £1400 this year. Me and 3 named drivers. Off street parking in south London

Had some more quotes, Adrian Flux was £1200 and NFU £1500, double the landrover insurance.

If you haven't called LR insurance they might be worth trying, they are £783 for me. Details again: 36 yo, £0 voluntary excess (adding an excess gives only a £small saving) with 15,000 class 1 business miles, kept on a drive with 1 fault claim and 2 windscreen claims in the past 5 years and protected NCB. Removing the accident only reduces the premium slightly.

LR Insurance wouldn't quote me for cover if I added a tuning box which I was thinking of doing.

I think of all the costs of running a car paying insurance you will never use to people who will avoid paying you if at all possible is sickening. Plus you are paying for people who make false claims or drive without insurance. The insurance for my Golf doubled in one year, I think I got it down to only an 70% increase, it makes me worry about year 2 of owning the RRE!

eSure: £550 Smile Smile

I was disgruntled too when my existing insurer quoted £2000 a year (3 points, high mileage + business miles). Land Rover insurance have quoted £950 so now I'm merely gruntled.

I got a quote via compare the meerkat of £630 for a Pure 5-door.
41 yrs old, 20k class 1 business mileage, 7yrs no claims. Only £30 more than my BMW 520d

I got a quote from Landrover Insurance & it was around £838. Adrian Flux was around £1100 & NFU would not insure me because I was not rural enough lol.
I went on the comparison sites last night & one of the cheaper ones (Esure) was £646 including legal assistance then whilst out valeting today I had a call from Esure (they knew they were in the top 5 of cheapest quotes but they were the only ones that have rang!) then they reminded me of the quote @ £536 = now I am confused(.com lol)

Landrover ins just over £300 - max ncd, clean licence, garaged, very rural. Admiral £700+, NFU £To55ers!!. NFU were also complete arse for my house ins. Local agent only 12 miles away never called back - NFU = No Fxxxxxxg Use.

Looks like it one big lottery. I would love to know how on earth these companies work out the cost.
Reading this thread, theres no common price structure.

Dart board with pounds signs on it comes to mind Wink

Perhaps they work on a similar structure to Double Glazing Salesmen in as much Go for a rediculous quote & hope the MUG accepts it but let them barter down to nearly half the original cost by going round the houses Evil
