Real minefield and I hate trade in time.Evil
One thing that helped me was that my dealer was part of a larger group which also had dealerships for my BMW.
Did my research and got an offer pretty close to what I wanted and the BM went off to their BMW dealership 3 miles down the road.

I know its unfair...but am adding the level of suspense here too (as I am facing).

So I went there.....have had the car "checked" out...and was told that they would do some more research and then email me back with an offer.......so I dont know yet...

Rest assured...as soon as I find out...you will too....then you can all share my sorrow Smile

Although not at trade in point yet, Lord knows when that will be, but, the dealer I bought my Merc from is across the road about 100yds from my Land Rover dealer, I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to get an accurate price and a place to off load it, let's wait and see.

They say they don't make any profit from a part ex, my dealer offered me £4500 when my car was valued at £7000, sold it on auto trader for £6500, within hours of putting it on.

not suprised in the slightest, when i sold my scirocco back to vw after it needed a replacement engine 12000 miles in vw gave me an "enhanced" price which I was fairly happy with. However why do they lie? Dealer told me, theres no profit in it for us. We will sell it for 15k. Next thing its on their websire for 18k. I know after haggling they wouldnt have got 18k but they would have sold it for a damn sight more than the 15k they told me.

Why not just be honest?

Any dealer will want to buy at bottom dollar and sell at top dollar - if he says anything else he's lying. What annoys me is when they offer less than the market price when you are changing.

I got 21k for my freelander 2 27k new on sale for £24,700, lost 6k in one year. Still better than WBAC who offered 17k. If the snow had came this year would have got a bit more but that's life. Was surprised it lost as much as that because my first freelander 2 bought for 20k (ex demo) and kept it for 2 years and got 15k for it, to be fair the dealer was short on fl2 stock and a buyer was lined up for it, so probably got top price. That was in November 2010.

Sooo....I got the call....

Nearly £2.7K less than We buy any car.....

Thats close to 25% less than what We Buy Any Car, and close to 45% less than on Auto Trader!

Sorry it took so long for me to let you guys know...I have only just come out of shock!

I did quite well, got £7k for my 3 year old bravo, private sale here would have been £7,500-£8k so they will probably get around that, as a lot of people would have already seen it up for sale.

Thats not good I thought WBAC offered low prices, whilst searching for other ways to sell my current car I found these sites Dealerbid and Autovip which you list your car with and dealers send you apparently good offers better than WBAC and you just select the best one.

Has anyone used these sites before?
