RE: Manual Gearbox - 1happydream - 22-09-2011 10:29pm NO....automatic has 6 gears as well. The 0-60mph difference is linked to the 1st gear ratio: very short (on manual), longer on auto. 1happydream RE: Manual Gearbox - Daigriff - 22-09-2011 10:54pm Have gone for the auto SD4 mainly because I'm lazy. Oh plus the fact I can blow all you manual guys away at the lights RE: Manual Gearbox - defender_uk - 23-09-2011 07:52am the thing I am struggling with is....how does cruise control work on a manual? Having only ever driven with cruise on an auto, I don't see how the cruise works...obviously you can't just push resume to get you back to speed, cos you have to work up the gears and then every time u clutch, I would have thought that that kills the cruise...Am I being slow?? lol RE: Manual Gearbox - PhilSkill - 23-09-2011 08:49am (22-09-2011 10:29pm)1happydream Wrote: NO....automatic has 6 gears as well. You're quite right it is 6 speed, not convinced a single lower first gear would be enough not sure what top speed in 1st would be, it is interesting, I'm sure I read somewhere in the early days it was an 8 speed auto box, probably another magazine article where all the facts are wrong. I was reading What Car the other day with as advertised a "Prestige 5 dr against Audi A6, BMW something, and then Coupe Dynamic against Audi TT and Merc something, and all the pictures were clearly a Dynamic 5 door with Audi A6 and a Prestige Coupe with Audi TT... reminds me why I dont buy magazines... basic facts wrong! Normally on a motorway you will be in 5th or 6th anyway, so not a problem really. RE: Manual Gearbox - PhilSkill - 23-09-2011 02:25pm I currently have cruise on a manual (not an RRE yet!) and don't even think about it, you normally only cruise at 70 on the motorway and are always in 5th, if you drop the clutch or brake it cancels and you just resume once about up to your speed, I find if i'm going a bit slower it will accelerate hard to get up to speed. RE: Manual Gearbox - peet - 23-09-2011 03:17pm I test drove the Auto and was going to go for it, but tried the manual and have been converted. RE: Manual Gearbox - brakedwell - 23-09-2011 03:47pm I plan to buy an Evoque if and when I can order a 2i4 manual Prestige. RE: Manual Gearbox - defender_uk - 23-09-2011 05:03pm ok thanks guys....reassuring...will just have to get used to it ....lol can't bloody wait!!!!
