Headlights picked up. Look mint. Does anyone know what the differences are on the black pack headlights?

Next job at the weekend is compare current plug to this one and keep fingers crossed.

Bumper and grill next to order from Dan at duckworth parts. Dan has compared part numbers for PDC sensors and headlight washer pumps and has confirmed they are same part numbers so should be transferable.

Well, had a quick look at the headlights to see what the connectors looked like. Couldn't get the headlight out without removing the bumper but did get it partially out.

Managed to undo the connector, and plug into the new light, but afraid no joy. No likey, no lighty! Didn't throw any codes just didn't work. Plugged straight in though.

Lots of wires on the back of the connector. Is this a standard loom would anyone know for all cars? My new lights only have 10 pins where as the current loom has 14 wires?

Really need to see pins in the back of the headlight, so when I have a bit longer free this will be the next step. Does anyone have a xenon light they could send me a pic of the pins in the connector?

Guess I was being to hopeful it would be plug and play!

Haven't you already got xenons?

RE: 2016 facelift conversion. - Nickj - 31-01-2016 07:01pm

Yes, already got them. Why?

Also, bit bored so thought I'd change the oval badges to Range Rover ones. Nothing against the LR ones just fancied a change and have everything matching. Will do the front one when my facelift grill arrives. Changed my wheel centre caps already to Rr already.

£6.99 from eBay for 2 badges. Perfect fit and easy to do. Once badge removed there are 2 small holes on the back. I got a knife and pushed from back, and oem badge popped of easily. Peel of backing and stick down. 2 mins.

No reason really, just surprised that they aren't plug & play, although that might come down to the new LED signature?

Strange?

RE: 2016 facelift conversion. - Nickj - 01-02-2016 03:02pm

Must admit I was hoping they would of plugged and played. Are pre facelift signature strips just normal bulbs and the new ones LEDs?

RE: 2016 facelift conversion. - PhilSkill - 01-02-2016 04:01pm

Nope LED for the Signature strips on my MY12.

RE: 2016 facelift conversion. - Nickj - 01-02-2016 05:02pm

Thought so, you'd definetly think they should work as led strips the same, xenon bulbs the same and they both have bulbs for sides. Need to check pins out on my current unit to see how many I've got.

Hopefully get bumper/ fogs/ grills ordered from Dan at duckworths this week.

RE: 2016 facelift conversion. - PhilSkill - 01-02-2016 05:33pm

Yes you'd have thought so, they must have switch pins around, maybe the ground wire has moved if you're getting nothing. You might have to try and work out the pin-out of the new unit out on the bench, then compare it back to your car.

You can certainly see which wires go to the Xenon bulb Ballast just looking in the unit, and should be able to buzz out some of the wires with a meter.

Hopedully it's something simple. Am going to have another trial run just to check, and hopefully get a headlight out so I can see the pins, and as you say, see what wires I can trace. If it's not plugs and play think I will get an auto electrician involved as my wiring skills are not to sharp!
