Well I have accepted an offer on the evoque. 90% of what I paid for it a year ago. It should be going today.

I love the car but for once in my life I have decided to do something with my head instead of my heart. Decided to get shot before residuals drop off and downsize to something cheaper whilst paying 8-10k off my mortgage. A vrs estate looks favourite at the minute but we shall wait and see.

I have had no problem with the evoque, its great to drive, comfortable and good looking. Its something i wanted the day i saw one and i have had a good year out of it for less than it would probably cost to run a basic ford focus. I could keep it no problem as its all paid for but long term savings appeal to me at this point.

I shall be punting around in a 20yr old mx5 until the right car comes along.

All the best - now that I have two little ones I have been thinking of trading in for something bigger. Also been offered very good part exchange. Just not sure I can let go though!

Alex

What sort of price are you being offered, are you getting 90% of purchase price as per ED209? If you are I'd say let it go and get something that suits your present lifestyle. Whilst our children were young and at home we ran a series of Discos through to a Disco 3; an Evoque would not have been suitable but the the two of us its pretty good.

Yeah we were looking at a Discovery second hand, but they too hold their prices so deals were not that attractive. We were being offered 85% part exchange with Guy Salmon, BMW, and Audi. But I probably could get closer to 90% if private.

Both Audi and BMW were slightly bemused at their own valuation being so high when we were checking out the market last month. None the less it was reassuring knowing should I need to exchange the financial impact is not as high as I thought.

However, I don't think the demand will last that much longer.

I don't always agree with THEMACS, but this really sums it up. For me it's the Evoque or trading up to the RRS or FFRR, as I live off road and I need the 4x4 technology only Landrover offer. If I didn't, then I'd be considering the same as you. All the best and good luck!

I'm going in to see my salesman on Monday, been speccing up a Fl2 XS TD4 in Mauritius blue. So will see how well the values are since the last time I looked in to it.
