Out of interest what do your dealership charge for labour per hour?

Interesting as there is a couple of kind of independent dealers but they are listed as approved service centres on LR's website. They quote almost half price on servicing from the likes of Stratstone Newcastle but i guess you don't get a possible FFRR or RRS to mince around in till service is complete...! That part means nothing to me, not having a courtesy car is neither here nor there but the cost cannot be sniffed at.
Is anyone else choosing to go down this route also..?

I know dealers have to make money, but I bought castrol oil to the correct spec for £25 for 5 litres (so 200L trade price will be 1/2 the equivilant per litres price), an oil filter for £8, you get my drift. All they do is change the oil and replace the pollen filter. The software update involves zero labour other than pluggin in a computer. Note all garages will charge you the labour for the oil change and the pollen filter seperatley, even though the job is done concurrently. So from your £330ish (inc VAT) parts will have been about £50, so they charged you about £280 for an hours labour; nice work if you can get it!
The same goes for all main dealers but its the price you pay for the "stamp in the book". Right rant over and relax....

As a first service is so basic you could probably hang around while it's done so no real need for a loaner. ! I might look into this option as long as its an approved Center and they use genuine parts. I always used independent specialists for my BMW as The service was much better and they were a fraction of the cost.

My dealer, the only one for 125 miles gives you a Ford Fester to 'Mince around in'. As for the independents nearer to home, I would not trust them to change the oil on my lawn mower!. You pays your money etc. etc.

My service wont be due til next march but I got a quote from team valley land rover for my first service when i first got the evoque. It was £200 inc vat, this is from a proper land rover franchise that just doesnt sell cars.

If it's any consolation, the last service on my Ferrari was £4467 - quite a lot needed doing, the last one on my Mercedes SL55 was north of £3000, the minor service on my 911 was £717 and even my Subaru Impreza cost £478 including a cam belt change. So £275 + VAT for the RRE seems reasonable but it will be interesting to see what variation is reported as the number of people here going in for their first service increases.
Car dealers always seem to charge for oil by the litre even though they buy it in much larger quantities. That, along with the recommendation to change pads and discs before they are due is one of the scams which are commonplace. That said, they have overheads which are far from negligible and part of what you pay is for them to be there in the first place

Which model of Ferrari was it - sounds like belts on a 360?

The service plan does not include tyres no. I have purchased the tyre insurance policy from LR for that. I must confess that I am not too sure about brake pads and the like although with my previous vehicles that was covered. Even bulbs and wiper blades were replaced ''for free''.
