WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - Neo - 20-08-2012 07:30am Great, I'm interested in the diagnosis I've just booked my car in for service this Friday so will report back too RE: WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - PhilSkill - 20-08-2012 07:51am Be really good to know what the noise is even if it's normal if someone will tell you, it's something we get a lot of questions about here! Just drove mine yesterday for over an hour at reasonable speed in blistering 28+deg and A/C on continuously and when I got out I walked right passed the front and it wasn't making the whine/whistle. RE: WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - doug - 20-08-2012 08:09am At night when my Evoque goes to bed (garage) it's only moved a few meters of the drive & running for less than a minute, but I still get the cooling fan running once the engine is switched off for about 45sec. As the engine would have been cold & I wouldn't have been driving at a speed for the turbo to kick in. So I'm not sure why it feels the need to run. I meant for problem diagnosis of the 'weird' noise from the car. RE: WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - yupstr8up - 24-08-2012 02:17am Well....it went in on wednesday, everything working ok. The noise the mech said was the system booting down, they didn't know why it was taking so long on occassions but not to worry because it can do this for up to 35 minutes ! I was assured that nothing would be damaged by this and that it was quite normal. So, not a lot can i do but just monitor it. Still doesn't comprehend to me, why the same noise fires up just opening the door to get something out.....Sorry there's no other solutions for us at this time, happy to say it hasn't affected the cars performance in any way. RE: WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - PhilSkill - 24-08-2012 10:54pm Hmmm... System booting down, still doesnt explain what it is, what component of the car is making the noise (of which I havent heard for ages!) Any luck Neo finding out? WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - Neo - 25-08-2012 01:19am Ok report from dealer " tested operation found noise to be normal. Fuel fired heater pumps and cooling fan solenoid cutting in compared with another vehicle exactly the same" Should we accept it's a very annoying feature of the car? Does your do it too when your just opening the door without the engine on? WHAT'S THAT NOISE... - Neo - 25-08-2012 06:06am Absolutely yes. It must be some fan or solenoid kicking in even before the engine starts! Do the si4 exhibit the same noise? Maybe trade mine for a si4? |
