So the initial answer to your value-for-money question is a huge NO! ...... but my family have had series 1, 2, 3, Ninety landrovers, Disco 1, Disco 2, Disco 4 and now an Evoque, typically keeping them for 10 years, covering around 100,000miles [including two 180,000 examples] .......and the long term Value-for-money question is a resounding YES!

My spec EVO has many options as I intend to keep the car long term, works out at 5k per year for 10 years. I do not expect any residual value at the end of it, still I think the car is not worth that amount.
Not comparing it to any other vehicle, but the starting price for a family 5 seater is 10k, so really another almost 40k for looks, brand name and additional extras is certainly not good value but, for 10 years with a pleasant drive with luxury extras in a reliable motor, then perhaps it will end up being worth it.

So for me it comes down to having 5 cheap new cars & no trimmings within 10 years, or having a high spec EVO
for the same time. If the EVO proves to be reliable and servicing costs are reasonable throughout the duration I Will have made the right choice and think, yep that was good value.

10years is a long time for a car. Our cars might be flying in the air in 2022!

FYI, Evoque servicing is cheaper than a Freelander ... by a fair bit I think. I suppose freshly designed technology .))

really? I was quite shocked at the price my dealer quoted me for the first service on the evoque. £400 certainly isnt cheap in my book. Not when a LR franchise that just does repairs/servicing quotes half that price.

My Evoques service plan is £8 a month more than my Fl2 was, and that was with money already in the pot, probably now getting service plan offers which make it cheaper but was originally dearer.

Well imagine you loose immediately that moment you leave the showroom about 5000,-. And in 3 years you will lose 50% off the price, and anonther 3 years later you will loose 25% off the new price. So after 6 years the car is worth only 25% anymore.ConfusedShocked

and yes, a nice color, navi, aircon, leather will help selling, but most extras you bought will not give a better price.

a 6y car is a 6y car in the trade, and there are so many of them....

LR at Melton Mowbray quoted a cheaper service plan for RRE than my outgoing FL .. about 20pc.
