I understood that the pure will use the standard sidelights (bulbs) as DLR's, i.e. that they will turn on automatically when the car is started (as Volvo's have been for many years).
If you look at the handbook that one of the guys has uploaded elsewhere on this site it states that "DRLs are LEDs". Not sure how this can be for the Pure if no LEDs are in the headlamp cluster. All cars have to have DRLs fitted by manufacturers now, these can be the standard headlights and their use is optional.
I am still uncertain how the Pure will be configured.
Best bet is to order the fogs and use them if you are bothered as they are LEDs

In Scandinavia we have been driving around with lights always on for decades now. It's the normal running lights we're using and they come on atomatically in all the cars sold here (not just Volvo's) - you have to make an extra effort to turn them off. I guess we're quite used to them but at some daytime conditions they do help.
I've orderd a Pure with a Clerview Pack and that includes:
- headlamps - automatic
- fog lamps front (little thingys down at the bumper level - othervise Pure will just have bars of plastic there is suppose...)
- Headlamps, automatic xenon with LED signature lighting & automatic headlamp levelling
- headlamp washers
- rain sensing windscreed wipers

Seems mad that if they are law, that their use is optional. Does that mean that the police will stop everyone who isn't using them (after they have checked that your car was manufactured after Feb 2011) and issue a fine? That doesn't work for the idiots who still use their mobile phones when driving, so why not just make it impossible to switch them off?
The fogs will be even brighter than the LED DLR's so using them all the time is guaranteed to piss a lot of people off. Plus you will look like a right poseur/boy racer

Drove up and down the M40 today and guess what I saw ........ yep, that's right, absolutely bugger all ! Typical !
However, will be going to Halewood over the weekend to take photos and get shouted at by a Security Guard !

I really hope you see more than I did the other week. I couldn't believe it ........ a total of only 2 outside in the holding area (both white) and 4 in the management carpark by a fence. I expected to see 100's.
