That Divx converter doesn't work. It won't convert Handbraked movies.

Pete, did the disk get powered up when it was connected to the usb port? e.g. did a power led come on, on the disk unit?

Yes it powered but it was just not seen from the car, it was full of folders of misic just as my usb pen is so it should have seen it but didnt
It did have some other stuff on also though i assumed it would have just ignored that stuff and gave me the music but it was to good to be true at least for this HD anyway. I have now got a 32gig usb pen to try instead when time lets me.

Pete, do you know what format the USB drive is NTFS or fat32? I think if you have windows 7 or vista and formatted the USB drive with that. The car wont be able to see the drive.

It was a borrowed drive but I think it was NTFS. I have another drive I'll give that a go on.

I think the manual states only FAT or FAT32 formated drives are supported.
It also says:
Land Rover does not recommend the
use of a Hard Disc Drive via the USB link
while the vehicle is in motion. These
devices are not designed for in car use
and may be damaged.
So presumably a correctly formatted HD should work at the risk of the disk suffering from the vibration and shocks experienced during vehicle movement although a good external Solid State Drive (SSD) would be the answer to this if it would work ok.

Even though the satnav works off a hard disk drive...
