I got word yesterday that my car was on the dock and would be at the dealer by the end of the week - tomorrow. An hour later I was told it was on the dock in Sydney as a result of industrial action at the wharf in Brisbane. Damn unions! Now my car looks mor like mid Jan

How long from the date of getting a Vin number, should it take to show up on Topix? I just tried,and it just says ''VIN not found''.

I thought it should appear fairly quickly! I figured as soon as the car is built, the vin is uploaded onto the system to say it has been built which will automatically update topix?
Maybe try tomorrow? should be up by then!

Mmmm yeah, i'll try everyday from now on for sure, but i did just read on some other threads that some people have waited up to a week before it appeared.

Indeed, that was me. It took a week to appear on TOPIX after build completion.
The timing may well be related to the point at which it leaves the factory. Mine is on a transporter today (short 60'ish mile journey) so the appearance on TOPIX would coincide with the date on which it was loaded onto a transporter.

I don't think the timing may necessarily be when it leaves the factory as mine was supposed to go into build on 16th December. When I searched up the VIN on TOPIX on the 16th, it was already on there.
Unless my car was built earlier.... which would be on the wrong side of normal....

Mine was also "Supposed" to go into build on 16th December but was actually built 2 days early. Have you checked the shipping status as your's may already be on a boat bound for Oz.

new to this forum, lots of good tips in this thread, I have just purchased a dynamic TD4 from Trivett Alexandria and would like to understand how you got all this information on:
- confirmed build date / slot (do I call the dealer to confirm this?)
- topix (what is this for?)
- vista printout (what is this for?)

PS ordered car in late Nov11 and was told by dealer that car will be Jan build / Apr delivery however have had no updates since signing contract.

I am the same as you and placed our order late Nov 2011 from Brisbane, we were told delivery mid March, still haven't heard any info?
