Yes they've published a quick SD4 / SI4 test.

- They keep hammering on the FL2 similarities although in the end they say the Evoque's ride is much better
- good steering, perfectly centered wheel
- MagneRide is good although after comparison they say the advantage is relatively small
- SD4 has lots of punch, no noise or shaking
- SI4 has a beautiful sound
- auto gearbox is much better than FL2 but not as good as the best German gearboxes
- LR test track was too easy to really test the off-road capabilities but it seemed very efficient
- fuel consumption is still quite high (9.1l/100km in SD4, more than 12l/100km in the SI4)
- they don't think it justifies the higher price over the FL2 (obviously they want an ugly plastic car as long as the ride is okay)

Conclusion:
+ Homogenous (spacious, compact, practical)
+ Personalization options (style, colour, options)
+ Driving pleasure and comfort
- Price compared to FL2
- Big and heavy doors (Coupe)
- Relatively high fuel consumption

Yes its mine too..... FFT got 34 - 36 mpg (sorry about the imp measures) out of his FFRR TDV8 Auto yesterday .... I think we should all be seeing well over 40mpg from our RRE's ..... but I'm not sure we will... especially those of us with autos.

I’m trying to get my head round how if JLR have the tech for the FFRR which is now pretty old .... and about to be replaced ..... why the RRE (its Eco flag bearer) isn't a real step change ahead of the FL2 .... economy wise.

Hi Vision,

I've just learned that the BIV in Belgium on my ordered SD4 would be Euro 2500, against Euro 850 on the TD4, seriously thinking off changing order, was that one of reasons you went for Td4 ??

I'll be interested to see teh rela life difference in the engines

RE: Dynamic TD4 - vision*R - 09-09-2011 09:52am

Yes, it's the reason why I went for TD4, 190 bhp is not very interesting in Belgium. 163 bhp would have been perfect though and could have replaced both 150 and 190 bhp.
Actually I first ordered the eD4 (due to lower CO2 while having the same 150 bhp) but I wanted to have it in 2011.

The real-life difference is difficult to predict, but I've driven a FL2 with 150 bhp and it didn't feel sluggish. Of course it wasn't quick either, but good enough to ensure swift driving and enough power to overtake other cars. I remember one of the LR engineers saying here that the difference is virtually non-existing in the first few gears. Only above a certain speed the 190 bhp shows its extra power.

Be sure to buy AutoGids / Moniteur de l'Automobile next Wednesday, they will publish the (first?) in-depth test of the TD4.

yes i will, I'm reading the autogids site now about the SD4... I've just specced a TD4 which I could get for the same price as my ordered SD4 but with the Recaro Sports seats pack..... !!!!! pity we cannot easily chip-tune via authorized dealers.... I'll have to seriously consider this. I've also been invited to a launch on Sep 22nd in Carre Brussels by my dealer. Do you have any launches coming up in Antwerpen ?

RE: Dynamic TD4 - vision*R - 09-09-2011 09:59am

Yes there's one on Sep 21 in Café Local, Antwerp. And an invitation to discover it in the showroom after Sep 23. I was told they'll have some Evoques available for a test drive as well.

Have you not considered waiting until jan 2012 for delivery then you'll have a 2012 registered car ????? I've requested that from my dealer....!!!

I know, but I need the invoice in 2011 for my company.
