It still doesn't make it any bloody cheaper. LR could have been on to a good seller here but at these prices they are taking the piss.

But.. you were really thinking you could buy a Range Rover for the price of Dacia Duster... (-;

No I wasnt but I an thinking of selling my FFRR which is only 2.5 years old for a smaller car as i have now sold my tin tent and dont need such a big car
I have had land rovers for the past 15 years and wanted to stay with the brand but at these prices Audi/BMW are coming into view

I don't understand how current RR owners can think the Evoque is too expensive. Did you all buy second hand RR's? Have you ever looked at a BMW / Audi price list by the way? Sure they start cheaper, but as soon as you start ticking options...

The Evoque has the looks, leather, gadgets... of a bigger RR, did you really think 20cm less would make it half the price?

I believe that Evoque cannot be compared to a real 4X4 like FFRR or RRS. The Evoque is an SUV targeting the premium market. The name doesn't make it real 4x4. Yes it can be a luxury SUV but that's it.
So my understanding is that if LR wants to compete with Audi or BMW on the luxury SUV market then the prices have to be comparable.

Now what are the prices for AUDIs and BMW I don't know but it looks like that a well equipped Evoque is going to be at 45-50k EUROS region which is 10K less than a RRS HSE in Germany!!

I was expecting Evoque to be the equivalent to Freelander in the Range Rover part as is the RRS for D4.

i think the biggest issue is the engines are not powerful enough for the price imo, everything else for me is fine but for 40k i would want the performance of a 3L X1, which i doubt you will get. I want the petrol which will be quick but it wont be fast, it is a bit of an issue because everything else i.e the interior is worth the price.

RE: Official French Price List including options - vision*R - 08-03-2011 04:06pm

40k gets you a 2L X1. There isn't even a 3L X1 afaik.

Anyway I've made a quick calculation based on my eD4 5d Prestige (47k).
A similar X1 would cost 45k and it misses a few things (7 BHP less, 18" wheels instead of 19", no electric backdoor)
A similar X3 would be 56k (with 13 BHP extra)

IMO the Evoque's size / specs / luxury is in between the X1 and X3, so it is reasonably priced.

@diamond: RRS HSE starts at 67k according to the German price list?

RE: Official French Price List including options - diamond - 08-03-2011 06:28pm

The ed4 is 2wd so not comparable to x1 or x3.
I don't know the figures and the specs for BMW and Audi but in my eyes a luxury car like evoque cannot be accepted in 2011 having as option in the prestige version the following: navi, auto dim interior mirror and other small things. LR decided to put these as options in order to keep the initial cost

I meant the SE which is around 55k with most of the extras of evoque as standard plus a more sophisticated 4wd system and air suspension.

RE: Official French Price List including options - vision*R - 08-03-2011 06:57pm

I'm comparing a 2WD X1 (143 BHP) to a 2WD Evoque (150 BHP). How is that not comparable?
Sure, the X3 is 4WD but even then it's more expensive than a 4WD Evoque.
All these small things you've mentioned are also not standard equipment in both BMW by the way.

Don't get me wrong: Evoque is an expensive car and it does have stupid options, but if you're saying Audi / BMW have a better equipment policy than you've clearly never ordered one.

RRS SE is still 62k. The basic S is 56k and has no leather, no MP3, no Bluetooth, no electric chairs, no folding mirrors, no camera... Come on!
