Around -15C overnight but only -5 in the morning!
With new glow plugs everything it seems to be ok.

Result. My RR Sport started off the key every morning a couple of years back when we had -18 for several nights on the trot - car kept outside. Not had chance to see how the Evoque performs as yet as the worst we'd have had so far is -2

I was told, on cold mornings, to hold the start button down until the engine starts - It allows the plugs to heat up. I've had to do this once, last November, when it was cold.

Have you ever tried this? In your video, you seem to be pushing the button quite quickly.

I have diesel BMW 520 with keyless start button. You have to do the same thing, hold down the start button to heat up the coil.

I am fairly certain that you dont have to hold the button down as the engine will not try to start if the glow plugs have not reached temperature. I notice in cold weather that after pressing my start button there is a slight delay before starting as opposed to warm weather whin it is instant

No you only need a good press and let go, the glow plug symbol shows on the dash for a moment, longer when cold, so it must sense the temperature, then the engine turns over.

The manual says that you should hold the button down if you are experiencing problems starting the engine, I just wondered if this has been tried?

Maybe holding it will keep the cranking going if it hasnt started, like keeping the key turned to keep it turning over.
