Mine's only a few days old, but very smooth between all the gears RE: Fixes done - PhilSkill - 23-11-2012 02:48pm There does seem to be a slight clunkiness in 1-2-3 over the 3-4-5-6 changes, many people have mentioned it, it doesn't bother me, but it is there. Calls for positive changes. RE: Fixes done - Evo-king - 24-11-2012 04:41pm 1st to 2nd drives me daft, I've never found a smooth way of changing from 1st to 2nd short of changing up as soon as possible. Sometimes I am more conscious of this irritation, but in reality, 1st to 2nd changes are rare. Would be interested to know if MY2013 has had some changes made gearbox wise. I don't think they made any changes to the gearbox for the MY13 models. I'm finding it difficult to find a smooth gearchange in mine. Its also my first diesel which may account for 99% of the issues though. I guess I will just have to drive it more when I get back onshore. RE: Fixes done - PhilSkill - 24-11-2012 06:57pm It is something you do have to get used to, When i've driven mine a lot I find it really nice to drive, although I agree you seem to change to 2nd before you've hardly got moving at all in normal driving. But since I drive quite a few other cars that are very "easy drive" cars it sometimes takes a little while to get used to the change points again, especially if i'm not ragging it and just driving carefully. Having spent a week and 1000's miles in a Renault Espace last week, it was a joy (make that relief) to get into Evo again, but you do notice the slightly more considered changes in the Evoque. RE: Fixes done - speary - 26-11-2012 02:01pm Unfortunately in the manual 1st needs to be low geared to allow any sort of meaningfull off roading. Even then at tickover it is still doing 4mph which is quite quick over a reallt bumpy track. The answer is either an auto ( I couldnt afford the auto but also didnt like its operation) or a low ratio transfer box which wouldnt really suit the nature of the car RE: Fixes done - PhilSkill - 26-11-2012 07:22pm Indeed Speary, life's a compromise! Fortunately I brought it for what it is, a small, stylish, 4WD, off-road, SUV, and a very good one it is too. Rattles excluded... these are my fixes hopefully to be done very soon since they are now at the point I choose to drive the other car |
