I have not removed a mirror cap but the replacement will show you where they are fastened and the key is to be able to remove the old covers without damaging the body of the mirror. Grabbing hold of it somehow and yanking it is not the way to go. At the risk of repeating myself and sounding like a stuck record, plastic pry tools are your friend - use one to gently lever off the old one bit by bit.

I used them yesterday to replace a rear wheel-arch surround, absolutely no problem.

Get an idiot transit van driver from SMITHS BUILDERS to just drive past, he having no sense of judging the width between your car and the one opposite, will smash past and whip the mirror off. The cover and glass comes out easily.

Done it. its only a 5min job each side.

1. using a pastic trim removal tool, pries apart this corner untill you hear the clip release

2. Keep moving this edge out, untill the cap comes off in your hands.

3. Picture of the underside of the mirror cap.

4. Starting where the pointer is, making sure the cap edge is over the mirror frame. push the cap in to place.

5. On the top, push the cap edge under the mirror frame. When push all the way untill cap is fully fitted.

6. My finished Gloss Black mirror cap (highly polished, when viewed though a lens looks chrome).
