RE: Engine sputtering at idle - WB - 12-01-2012 02:19pm I've been keeping an eye on mine at idle since reading this thread and its very smooth at idle and keeps a steady ~900 RPM. Is your rev needle jittering at idle? Hi. My evoque sputters very slightly, noticeable for a few days, but it seems to have cleared itself now. Try putting the car with the 'handbrakes on' and see if it does the same. RE: Engine sputtering at idle - Claud - 12-01-2012 08:19pm The rev needle was jittery when the tick over had a hiccup and then returned level for a few seconds. Guava had mine in on diagnostics today - no faults or codes found. Technician (great guy has looked after 4 Land Rovers of ours and fixed some troublesome issues) decided to up the tick over form 784rpm to 815rpm and asked me to run for a while and see if it repeats itself. Over the past few days the issue had been less frequent so it may be one of those glitches. My TDV8 Vogue SE had a lumpy tick over when part warm which took 12 months to sort out with Land Rover finally issuing a software fix after the number of complaints rose. Just taken it out for a run, it is still has a lumpy idle The higher idle rate is mitigating the effect a bit but it is still noticeable occasionally in idle in drive or reverse. I'll put a few more miles on it before I visit Guava again. RE: Engine sputtering at idle - Claud - 13-01-2012 09:20pm I parked the car in the underground car park at work today and it was very lumpy manoeuvring in to the space. I phoned Will at Guava and he advised me they have raised a Technical Request with Land Rover, so I will await their response. He also said Land Rover have requested all dealers to notify them of any issues on the Evoque. I guess they are sensitive to the "reliability" perception of the public and want to ensure any issue is resolved quickly and they learn from them. I know I would never have a Vogue again, mine could not stay away from the dealer for more than three months without some fundemental fault, I hope I don't get the same opinion of the Evoque... What does your Freeloader idle at? Same level at 850rpm in neutral or drive RE: Engine sputtering at idle - Claud - 25-01-2012 02:03pm Update from Guava today, Land Rover are aware of an issue to do with the roll back mechanism and are working on a software update. I will wait patiently for the fix RE: Engine sputtering at idle - LP - 30-01-2012 11:57pm I'm getting this issue too. When stationary I've seen the rev counter needle twitching. Will put a call in to the dealer tonorrow to log the problem. RE: Engine sputtering at idle - Claud - 31-01-2012 12:27am LP Is yours an SD4 auto too? Was it built in mid December? Mine was completed 19 December. I am wondering if all the cars with this symptom had. Similar build time. Alex's was delivered just few days before mine. RE: Engine sputtering at idle - Alex - 31-01-2012 07:47am I never took my Evoque in for a service - too busy at work. However the issue stopped a few weeks back, but this week has started again - curious if anyone has found the solution yet? It did it again on my way to work the morning. I came to stop at a junction and the engine was idling with a shake every 3 seconds, but oddly for me the rev counter was fine despite the sound of the revs dropping. The engine was warm and I had just got off the motorway after a 10 minute drive, I did a test and turned the heating off, and all electricals at next set of lights and it still had the weird idle every few seconds. I collected my Evoque (Dynamic SD4 Auto) on 22nd Dec, guessing build was start of December. I will have to take it in next week, only problem is it appears to be temperamental so not sure how the service department will pick it up. |
