Thats a bit choice you think dealer would show some good will 4 days in, not going to break their bank, it may have been faulty to snap like that.
I've had to turn off auto wipers as twice now, as soon as I start the car, wipers scrape themselves across the frosted windscreen. Seems auto is not for permanently leaving on but easy to forget its on auto when they've not wiped for a long time. I tried the winter park, but leaves wipers up on windscreen even while driving along.
