RE: Evoque eD4 2WD - flakey99 - 02-11-2011 12:26am

I ordered an eD4 through the leasing company at the end of September. My current car is due to go back on 17th Feb and they gave me a delivery date of 15th March initially which slipped back to 4th April last week. My mate at JLR told me they were starting eD4 customer production in January so I hope my date doesn't slip any further Sad

RE: Evoque eD4 2WD - Pedalpower - 02-11-2011 12:06pm

from what i have found out no dealers could actually add 2wd to the proper order system until this month, as the actual build is not due until December onwards, so any 'order' placed before now was literally just sitting in the que for a December build slot. As far as i know, no actual slots have been given to 2wd yet, so its not possible to get a confirmed or even fairly well estimated delivery date. I guess the lease company are just guessing as they cannot have taken a build slot from the factory in September for a December build. I certainly could have had a build earlier if i was going 4wd, i placed a order with the dealer some time ago and the biuld could have been put into the system before now, but as it was 2wd its been waiting for the 2wd slots to open...

my dealer still thinks late jan, however he did say that he was waiting for LR to come back to him..

who knows

Same story here, my dealer advised me to go 4wd if I wanted a car this year. So I did, and even then I won't get my 4wd before the end of January due to all the delays. It would really surprise me if any 2wd vehicles are going to be built this year.

Has anyone had any update on this ?, my dealer still cannot give me a confirmed date, however he cannot either confirm there is a delay... in other words totally in the dark, for a expected Jan delivery

anyone ?; A update ?????

RE: Evoque eD4 2WD - swiss tony - 14-11-2011 11:43am

have you had a definate build date of jan 2012 for an ED4?

RE: Evoque eD4 2WD - Pedalpower - 14-11-2011 02:02pm

nope, nothing confirmed, its all rumors. My guess is a delay till at least feb, i cant imagine that LR will allow dealers to add ed4's to the system in November and them build them in December, in terms of stock control, ordering parts etc etc, even allowing for some stock piling that sounds impossible from a logistics stand point. I would have thought they only allow dealers to place orders on the system for actual builds taking place at least 8 weeks in the future. I really hope i am wrong, but really cant see a Jan delivery now....

its odd the total lack of info, i have waited 4-6 months for a car before but always had more info that this, based on what has happeded to other people on here, it could be jan, it could be march, april, may, who knows, absolutly zero idea what is going on, which is pretty bad when you spend this sort of money on car

RE: Evoque eD4 2WD - J77 - 14-11-2011 05:58pm

Freelander was in for it's service today and they gave me an eD4 freelander loaner, from my point of view it wasn't great, that said it was very quick of the mark for a 150hp and it's heavier than the evoque so I expect the evoque to be very nippy around town. But for me it just didn't feel sure footed enough and not too big a difference in fuel consumption to its 4wd counter part. Unless you really need the lower emissions for car tax reasons I would go for the TD4.

Just my opinion Thumbs Up

The difference in mpg for the freelander is negligible but the difference in the evoque is more substantial.
According to official figures anyway which don't seem to mean much at the moment.
