Thanks! But it says anti-UV.. As far as I know UV is not warm. So the SA Glass could protect you from harmful UV rays (cancer and sunburn) but will not keep the car cooler. Or am I wrong?

sorry! what the parts catalog actually states is (Infrered Reflective) but basically i am sure it means Solar Attenuating.

Great! And is it exactly like normal glass in appearance or does it have this oily colored coating that you can see from certain angles?

RE: Solar Attenuating Glass - Rootsboy - 28-03-2012 09:11am

mine seems to look just like normal glass.

this is all the information stamped on it:

Saint Gobain Sekurit E8
DOT 617 AS1 M456
43R-003993
E000234

none of these numbers tie up with the parts catalog number which is supposed to be for my windscreen. this number would be: LR026233 (GLASS - WINDSCREEN, 5 DOOR, INFRARED REFLECTIVE WINDSCREEN, LESS HEATED WINDSCREEN)

Just a quick update, its starting to get very hot here in spain, and i have parked my car out in the full of it quite a lot now, and i still have not burnt myself on the black leather, i think i am happy to have ordered the solar attenuation glass

Same for me. In the sun with pano roof open and temperature stays lower than in my previous car without SA glass and without pano roof.

I too have solar attenuating glass and spend a lot of time in the south of France. I've noticed that my black leather seating/dashboard doesn't get hot to touch at 30C-40C direct sunshine temperatures and I can sit in the seats without jumping three-foot in the air when getting in. As such, I think it works.

I've had two-way communication with LR for the last few months to try and determine: how do I know I actually got this feature (asked my sales guy and he looked at the order and said 'yes' but I want to prove it myself; that all windows (including front screen and pano roof (which I have) have this glass; and that my privacy glass also has this feature. LR has written to Saint Gobain (the glass manufacturer) to ask them how to determine this and I still wait for this response. It would appear LR don't know the definitive answer either, which is concerning as it's a very simple question which should take a couple of minutes at most to answer!

Yes my dealers told me different things about the glass as well, but I'd you look a back in this thread a little. You will notice I talked of finding the part codes for the glass. And it seems like its only a option for the front windscreen and comes as standard for the pano roof. If you hear anything different. I would be happy to know.

That's what I've been told as well.

I have ordered the glass, but later on canceled, my dealer confirmed, that glass is blocking GPS and 3G signals...
