I thought you could only get GAP from the dealer or at least that is what I have been told in the past. When I bought my MGZT-T190 new back in 2005 the dealer gave me gap at cost (£250).

You can buy GAP insurance from anywhere you want. When we got our Tiguan, I didn't even go with the cheapest quote choosing to go with an underwriter I knew and still saved 50% on what VW were quoting as their best price (which was lower than their initial quote).
